2000 Yamaha YZFR6

"The new gold standard ... and current definition of sportbike perfection!" wrote Motorcyclist of Yamaha's YZF-R6. Sportbike magazine dubbed it "the ultimate 600-class supersport machine." Cycle World named it 1999's "Best 600cc Streetbike." And Sport Rider crowned it "1999 Bike of the Year."

The R6's ultra-compact, ram-air-inducted, short-stroke in-line four spits out one of the most hellacious powerbands in supersport motorcycling. And its class-shortest wheelbase and featherweight Deltabox II-framed chassis delivers lightning-quick handling and precision that rivals Yamaha's own TZ250.

Yamaha has done a bit of fine-tuning for the new year, dropping in new forged pistons for greater engine efficiency, and adding a new shift lever with a lighter-weight shift spring for better feel.
